Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara, says the government will set up a special security committee to check activities of cattle rustlers and other criminal activities among cattle breeders.

Ahmed stated this on Monday in Ilorin, when he received members of the Myetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Kwara branch at Government House. The committee would comprise of security agencies and the Fulani community.

Ahmed told the association, led by its state chairman, Alhaji Usman Adamu, that government was concerned over local farmers/Fulani clashes in the state. He assured that the government would curtail the problem through the establishment of grazing reserves and stock routes across the state.

The governor promised to provide them with necessary social amenities to make life more meaningful. He cautioned the farmers and the herdsmen against any clash with host communities, adding that they should respect their hosts' traditions and culture. Adamu had sought for government's assistance to enable them overcome the problem of kidnapping of their kinsmen and the menace of cattle rustlers.? He appealed to the government to include them in its soft loan programmes, designed for Small and Medium Enterprises. (NAN)
