Date: 2015-11-27

The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Dr Ali Ahmad has been honoured with award of Excellence and Integrity Order of Nigeria Vogue Journalism Centre for his rare capabilities and achievements in the history of lawmaking in Nigeria.

Similarly, the Speaker who was lauded for his political landmark was also decorated as Integrity Ambassador of the Nigeria Vogue Ambassador.

A statement issued by the Special Assistant on Media to the Speaker, Shuaib Abdulkadir, quoted the Head of the Centre and Editor-in-Chief of Nigeria Vogue magazine, Mr Taliat Gafar Ola stating that the awardee was selected for his performance at the 7th Assembly which was unprecedented.

Ola described Ahmad as a dogged and decent politician, noting that it was not surprising to Nigerians when he was unanimously elected to lead the state 8th Assembly as the speaker.

He said every youth in the country was very proud of the Kwara Speaker and acknowledged his vibrancy, uprightness and humility, stating that those rare qualities ranked him high above his contemporaries.

"We acknowledged the fact that his emergence as Kwara Speaker is God's reward for his hard work in enhancing the nation's democracy. He is indeed a rare gift and blessing to the state and Nigeria as a whole", he added.

The editor however challenged politicians in the country to emulate Ali Ahmad's efforts and good gesture towards ensuring that people feel their positive impact in the society.

Responding, Hon Ali Ahmad appreciated the centre for deeming it fit to choose him as the best among his colleagues who served at the 7th Assembly. Ahmad added that the award would further spur him to achieve more for the benefit of the people rather than relenting on his efforts.

The Speaker said it has always been his passion to serve the people and he would at any point in time be available to render services in any chosen capacity.
