First career goal excites Kwara Utd. CB, Sogbeso
Kwara United centre-back, Seun Sogbeso has expressed happiness scoring his first Premier League goal against Nigeria's Caf Champions League representatives, Sunshine Stars.
United recorded a 1-0 win over the Akure Gunners in an NPL replay fixture which was decided behind closed doors at the Ilorin Township Stadium on Wednesday.
Sogbeso, 21, who netted the winning goal for Kwara United in the 27th minute, told SuperSport.com that he is excited that his first Premier League goal condemned Sunshine Stars to defeat.
"I have never scored a goal in my life and no one would believe that my first career goal beat a club at present campaigning for Nigeria in the Caf Champions League. I was very lucky to have scored and I thank my coach and my teammates," Sogbeso told SuperSport.com in Ilorin.
The erstwhile ABS' defender, is however optimistic that the Afonja Warriors will pick a continental ticket when this term reach a climax.
"Our 100 percent signing-on fees has been approved and we have no excuse than to pick a Caf Champions League ticket at the end of the season. Yes it's our mandate, and we must beat Gombe United this weekend.
"Our fans here in Ilorin have waited for so many years and we have promised them that next season they would be watching us play in the Champions League," he explained to SuperSport.com in Ilorin.
Kwara United currently occupy 10th on the NPL standings with 37 points and they are nine points adrift leaders, Enugu Rangers.
