Member-elect welcome APC's decision not to zone N/Assembly Position
The position taken by the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) not to zone key positions in the National Assembly was for the good of Nigeria's democracy, a group of members-elect for the 8th House of Representatives have said.
The lawmakers, under the aegis of Consolidation Group, said that the APC's stand was in sync with the position of the president-elect Muhammadu Buhari.
The lawmakers, working for the emergence of Yakubu Dogara as the next speaker, said in a statement, yesterday said: "Members should be given the freehand to choose their leaders without any external interference by some godfathers. This will further deepen and consolidate on the gains of the 7th Assembly under the able leadership of Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal."
The three lawmakers that signed the statement on behalf of their colleagues were Jagaba Adams Jagaba (Kaduna), Zakari Mohammed (Kwara) and Halliru D. Jika (Bauchi).
