Some of the hostels yet to be completed in the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, are already being vandalized by unknown people.

The development drew the ire of the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Alhaji Raji Muhammed, during a tour of some abandoned projects in the institution,

The state commissioner instructed the school authority to stop the tide by employing capable hands that can handle security matters in the institution.

 He pledged that efforts were under way to complete some of the abandoned projects in the school, so as to restore the lost glory of the school.

The commissioner advised the contractor to work hand-in-hand with the Works Department of the institution to ensure speedy completion of the projects.

Alhaji Muhammed, who visited the abandoned Shekoni Hostel, near Yankanri Hostel, around the school's roundabout, Convocation Ground road rehabilitation, Medical Centre, Tourism Village, among others, said that the government was ready to complete abandoned projects in the institution.

He also said that from the look of things, the only way to reduce the transport problem bedeviling the institution was to complete the abandoned hostels.

He said what should be paramount in the mind of all should be how the purpose for establishing the citadel of learning would be achieved.

He stressed that accommodating a large number of students on campus would not only alleviate transport problem, but also help in stopping students from engaging in wrong affairs and other anti-social vices prevalent among students living in towns and villages around the school premises.

Speaking to the contractor handling the construction of the hostels near the school roundabout, the commissioner said the present administration was determined to address students' welfare problems regardless of what it will cost the administration.

He enjoined the staff of the Institution to embrace peace and unity in order to attain the aims and objectives of setting up the institution, adding that the importance of peace and tranquility in any organization cannot be over-stated.
