Hajia Khadijah Imam Warns Against Backbiting, Advocates Devotion During Holy Month
A distinguished Ilorin-based female Islamic preacher, Hajia Khadijah Abdulsalam Imam, has urged Muslim women to avoid backbiting and gossip, as these acts diminish the rewards for their virtuous deeds.
Speaking on Sunday, Hajia Imam highlighted that during the holy month of Ramadan, Muslim women often engage in numerous rewarding activities to ensure their families adhere to fasting practices. However, she cautioned against indulging in negative behaviours such as gossip, which could undermine the spiritual benefits of their efforts.
She advised Muslim women to focus instead on supplications and praising Allah, activities that yield divine blessings and favour. By steering clear of actions that provoke the wrath of Allah, she encouraged them to maximise the spiritual rewards of Ramadan and lead lives rooted in piety and devotion.
Speaking on “the Roles of Muslim Women during Ramadan” at the maiden edition of Ramadan symposium organised by the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kwara chapter, in Ilorin, the female preacher advised Muslim women to always seek Allah's favour in addition to the good deed they engage in.
The wife of Kwara state governor, Mrs Olufolake Abdulrazaq, represented by the Commissioner for Environment, Nafisat Buge, enjoined Muslim women journalists to change the bad mindset some people have about Islam through their reports as Muslim women journalists.
'We should be able to balance the ethics of the profession and Islam because Islam is a way of life and the tenets should not be tampered with irrespective of your profession,” she said.
The chief press secretary to Governor AbdulRazaq, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye, charged the Muslim women journalists on educating young couples in managing their mental health.
