N-Power: 30K Youth Register in Kwara

Over thirty thousand unemployed youths in Kwara State have already registered for the N Power anchored programme of the Federal Government Social Intervention Programme.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Youth Empowerment, Alhaji Saka Babatunde disclosed this on Thursday at a Sensitization programme for youths in Kwara Central senatorial district of the state.

According to him, Ilorin west Local Government top the list with seven thousand, one hundred and ninety four, five thousand, eight hundred and twenty two registered from the Ilorin south, while two thousand three hundred and thirty four from Ilorin East and one thousand, nine hundred and thirty five from offa local government.

Alhaji Babatunde noted that the state is still far from the target for this second phase of N Power and called for concerted efforts towards ensuring that the unemployed youths were adequately captured for the programme.

He said if the government achieve the targets, it would improve the state's economy as additional six hundred million naira would be coming to the state monthly.

Alhaji Babatunde added that this would go along way in reducing youth restiveness and improve the capacity building of the participating volunteers.

The SSA who attributed lack of funds to the suspension of the Kwara State Bridge Empowerment Programme, assured that the state government will soon create value additional programme to create employment opportunities as the economy improves.

Alhaji Babtunde said Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed had constituted a solid structure to.ensure maximum participation of the youths in the state in this second phae through the awareness and sensitization programme, pointing out that specimen registration forms had been distributed across the sixteen local government areas of the state.
