Date: 2023-03-21

The Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has felicitated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on his victory in the just concluded gubernatorial election in the state.

The union observed that the overwhelming victory of Governor AbdulRazaq, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), truly reflected the wishes of the people of the state to renew his mandate for the good work to continue.

In a statement issued in Ilorin, the Chairman and Secretary, the state council of NUJ, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed and Omotayo Ayanda respectively, said the Governor’s re-election was deserving in view of his administration’s midas touch that manifests in every nook and cranny of the state.

The state NUJ noted that Governor AbdulRazaq had invested hugely in human and infrastructural development since he came on board, urging him not to drop the ball.

It also praised the state Chief Executive for the positive turnaround in the state-owned media houses including Kwara State Television and Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation (Radio Kwara) and pleaded with him to replicate the same gesture in The Herald Newspapers.

The union, however, called on the Governor to consolidate on the gains recorded in the last three and a half years in his second coming so as to further justify the trust and confidence the people reposed in his administration.

“The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State Council congratulates Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on his victory in the just concluded gubernatorial election. His overwhelming victory at the election that returned him for second term of office is a reflection of the wishes of the people of the state.

“It is therefore not a gainsaying that the Governor had invested hugely in human and infrastructural development in the last three and a half years, thus breaking new ground and expanding the frontiers of development in all spheres of governance.

“Governor AbdulRazaq’s patriotism and passion for development of Kwara will be chronicled in the annals of the state and history would be kind to him for restoring the dignity and pride of every Kwaran irrespective of their status.

“As much as Kwarans are savouring the re-election victory of Governor AbdulRazaq, our utmost belief as a union is that this moment is a wake up call to the people’s Governor to do more, because the reward for hard work is more work.“
