Kwara Assembly urges thorough probe of Kaiama’s general hospital CMD
The Kwara State House of Assembly, on Thursday, called for a thorough investigation into the detained Chief Medical Director of Kaiama General Hospital, Dr Adio Adeyemi, over alleged murder of two women.
The House in a resolution on a matter of general public importance at the plenary, urged security agencies in-charge of the matter to thoroughly dig into the matter with a view to bringing all persons involved to justice to serve as deterrent to others.
The House urged members of the Kaiama community and residents not to be discouraged by the recent incident, but continue to patronise and support the new Chief Medical Director of the hospital and management.
The legislature advised the people of the community to be security conscious and refrain from taking the laws into their hands, but have confidence that the perpetrators would be brought to book by the government.
The House commended Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq for promptly deploying a new CMD in order not to create a vacuum nor disrupt medical services in the facility.
It condoled the families of the affected deceased victims and prayed God to provide them the fortitude to bear the loss.
Hon. Abdullahi Halidu Danbaba (Kaiama/Kemanji/Wajibe) constituency had moved a motion to present a Matter of General Public Importance on the Need to reassure residents of Kaiama on the reliability of the General Hospital, Kaiama to provide medical care.
Hon. Danbaba drew the attention of the House to the arrest of the former CMD of Kaiama General Hospital, Kaiama Dr Adio Adeyemi, over a murder case in Edo State after some more startling revelations about his criminal escapades especially against members of his host community came to the public glare.
He said all those who knew the doctor were held astonished because the former CMD later confessed to alleged heinous crimes which bordered on murder of innocent citizens, kidnapping and killings of unsuspected victims for ritual purposes in the town.
Hon Danbaba equally acknowledged that recent discoveries in the office of the CMD was capable of having adverse psychological effects on the people whose trust was betrayed by him as the development had sent jitters down the spines of an average Kaiama person whose only solace when seeking medical care is the General Hospital.
The Hon. member therefore pleaded with the people of Kaiama to put the ugly incident behind them and continue to have confidence in the medical facility and the personnel.
