MFM FC vs Kwara United: Olukoya Boys hope to continue resurgence against Warriors
Having gone unbeaten in their last four league fixture, MFM will hope to continue their resurgence when they welcome Kwara United in the match-day 17 of the Nigeria Professional Football League, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Since their promotion to the topflight football, the Olukoya Boys experienced what was their worst outing in the league suffering seven consecutive defeats. But since ending that unwanted record against Katsina United in match-day 13 at the Teslim Balogun, the Lagos-based club are yet to suffer another defeat and have also picked two massive points away from home.
To continue their resurgence as they hope to survive relegation, MFM face a tough task from Kwara United on Sunday and a win for them could possibly see them move to 15 on the log.
Meanwhile, the Afonja Warriors, who were the 2006 league winners, have also not been consistent in the league this season and have not won any of their last five away games, picking up just two points from a possible 15.
Speaking ahead of their Sunday encounter, MFM defender Adebayo Alimi, said they hope to make it three consecutive victories at home.
“Expectations are very high at the moment and we cannot settle for anything less than the three points against Kwara,” he told PUNCH Sports Extra.
“A win tomorrow will see us move up a bit on the table and possibly away from the relegation for the first time this season.
“We’ve been working very hard, so it’s just nice to see all that paying off.”
