ABDULRAZAQ's SPORTS PROJECTS WILL BRING FAME, REVENUE TO KWARA - SPORTS PERM. SECT

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Bar. (Mrs.) Iyabo Funke Banire, has described the execution of various sports projects the administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is embarking upon as a boon that will drive in fame and bring about revenue generation for Kwara State.

The Permanent Secretary gave the submission today while on an inspection round the on-going sports projects the present government in the State is carrying out.

The projects, which include construction of Eight Squash Courts, renovation of a twin-Squash Court, renovation of the KFA Hostel 'B' (completed), renovation of the Volleyball Courts, renovation of the Basketball Court, renovation of the Swimming Pool Complex and renovation of the Handball Courts(work will soon begin there), are all housed at the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

Barrister Banire, who lamented the poor state of the infrastructures at the Stadium Complex before the coming of AbdulRazaq-led administration, maintained that the projects, if completed, will enable the State to harvest talents through whom the State's revenue generation will be boosted, the projects will also catapult the name of the State across the international community.

She added that AbdulRazaq's love for youths and sports is reflective in his resolve to furnish the State's sports arena with appropriate facilities.

The Permanent Secretary further noted that the Governor's programmes are tailored towards securing the future for youths in the State, stating that sports is no longer recreation but a source of revenue.

Also speaking at the sites of the projects, the Director, Sports Development, Alhaji Abubakar Olusola Sheu, explained that the projects will attract competitions both at the national and the regional levels, stresing that the achievements of Governor AbdulRazaq have made the State’s Handball Team (Adorable Angels) the current champion in the nation.

He also disclosed that this will be the first time in history that the State will be qualified for Six-Team Sports in the national festival.
