Razak Atunwa emerges Kwara PDP governorship candidate

Razak Atunwa, a serving member of the House of Representatives, has won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election in Kwara State.

Atunwa defeated Sha'aba Lafiagi, the senator currently representing Kwara North, in the rescheduled exercise held on Monday.

According to the results, Atunwa scored 1,555 votes while Lafiagi got 578.

Before voting commenced, eight of the 10 aspirants withdrew from the race.

They were: Bolaji Abdulahi, Ali Ahmad, Saka Isau, Ladi Hassan, Ibrahim Kaia, Zakari Mohammed, Abubakar Amani and Ahman Pategi.

Atunwa holds a master's degree in Law from the University of East London. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in October 1994.

He practised in the United Kingdom, until he moved to Nigeria in 2005 to commence his political career
