FoodPro celebrates female factory workers on IWD

March 8th 2018, may have come and gone but the experience and felicitation of the day will linger in the minds of various women especially for the female factory workers at FoodPro Limited, a leading cashew processing company based in Ilorin, Kwara State, where female workers were specifically celebrated by the organization on the International Women's Day.

FoodPro therefore extended its alms full of kindness and celebrated the low cadre and other women in the workforce. The venue of the event was the processing factory premises located at Owa-Kajola Close, GRA, Ilorin, Kwara state.

In his goodwill message, Ayo Olajiga, the Managing Director of FoodPro Limited, who was represented by Opeyemi Ogungbade, the factory Manager, said: "the involvement and celebration of the low wage workers was key to the organization because International Women's Day belongs to all communities everywhere, government, companies, Charities, educational Institutions, networks, associations, the media and more. Whether through a global conference, community gathering, classroom lesson or dinner table conversation, everyone can play a purposeful part in pressing for gender parity which is the theme of the year's event."

The organisation also celebrate the International Women's Day by educating the female workers at the factory, on how to care for their health and safety. During the event, a workshop and empowerment program was put together titled "Personal Hygiene, Basic Health and Safety Rules. Food and Nutrition for Low wageworkers".

There was also a free screening opportunity for the women with a final cap ofthe full celebration of International Women's Day.

Abimbola Ademola from General Hospital Taiwo, Ilorin taught the audience on the need for a balanced carbohydrate and protein diet without breaking the bank. In attendance were all female staffs of FoodPro Ilorin, with special emphasis on female factory workers, Moyo Oduwobi, Head of Operations HRM, Adetutu Obalaiye, Quality Assurance Manager Grace Darko, Factory Accountant amongst others.

In a related development, Moyo Oduwobi said Collective action and shared responsibility for driving gender parity is what makes International Women’s Day successful, adding that the story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.

Reacting to the event of the day, highly elated Janet Adeyeba, a factory worker commended her organization FoodPro, for dimming it fit to remember the female factory workers and urged the organization to keep up the good work. FoodPro primarily focus on procurement and processing of raw cashew nuts into semi- processed and roasted kernels which are distributed in both domestic and global markets.
