An Ilorin based non-governmental organization, Becky's Foundation has unveiled its plans to build 50 bed space hostel accommodation for the students of Kwara State School for Special Needs.

The NGO said the foundation laying stone of the project, which will be constructed alongside the school Matron apartment, will be performed between October and December this year.

Its founder, Miss Rebecca Adimula, made this known at the 2017 graduation ceremony and prize giving day of Kwara State School for Special Needs held at the school premises in Ilorin.

Miss Adimula disclosed that the architectural design of the proposed dormitory had already been uploaded on the website of the foundation's website "www.beckysfoundation.org.ng" while an account was also opened with Guarantee Trust Bank to receive donations on social media.

She said the project was being undertaken to show sympathy and accord the students with special needs sense of belonging.

The founder urged philanthropists and wealthy Nigerians to join the gamut of efforts in bringing smiles to the face of people with special needs.

She said the physically challenged people required not just special but priority attention like their able bodied counterparts.

Miss Adimula noted that government cannot all alone attend to the catalogue of needs of people with special needs, hence the need for well meaning citizens to rally support for them.

The founder specifically called for assistance for students of the state School for Special Needs in order to meet their individual aspirations.

Recalling how the foundation has been able to impact on the lives of beneficiaries of its kind gesture in the last three years, Miss Adimula assured that the foundation would sustain its support for the underprivileged in the society.

The founder praised the state government and other benefactors for their continued support to the foundation.

"It is a great pleasure for me to be here again this year to celebrate with the students and pupils of this school the 2017 graduation ceremonies and prize giving day. This is the third year that Becky's Foundation is giving award to the best graduating student of the school. Incidentally, all the recipients of the award since we started in 2015 have been females. This is an annual award and the foundation will work hard by the grace of God to sustain it.

"Becky's Foundation is a non government and nonprofit organization that aims at helping the underprivileged all over the world. Since 2015 that the organization started, God has helped us to do a great job in Kwara State. I am particularly happy that the foundation has been able to award scholarships to some pupils including Sodiq Alabi, a Primary One pupil of this school and his younger brother Qudus Alabi, a Nursery One pupil of a private elementary school in Ilorin, Kwara State; among several other achievements.

"I appreciate the Kwara State government under the leadership of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for making available all the basic needs of about 450 students and pupils of this school. It is tremendous and commendable.

"I know that the government cannot do everything and I am using this opportunity to call on well meaning Nigerians to support the needs of impaired children in the school and wherever they are found, I assure you that you will not lose your reward.

"I thank most sincerely the mother of the state, Mrs Omolewa Ahmed, for her consistent moral and financial support to Becky's Foundation. My lord, Justice Raliat Elelu Habeeb, the matron of the foundation is a given woman to humanitarian work. I appreciate her tremendous support to the foundation. The various supports account for the help the foundation has been able to give to various beneficiaries", Miss Adimula said.
