Emir, council boss lament deplorable state of roads in Kwara LG

Date: 2017-07-19

Alhaji Muazu Omar, the Emir of Kaiama, in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara, on Tuesday said the deplorable state of roads in the council area required urgent attention.

Omar told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in his palace that only prompt intervention would prevent the council area from being cut off from other parts of the country.

The emir said the three federal roads linking Kaiama with other parts of the state and the country–Kaiama-Kosubosu, Kaiama-Kishi and Kaiama-New Bussa–were in total state of disrepair.

This, he said, was hindering the socio-economic development of the area.

The monarch called for synergy between the Federal Government and the state government in ensuring that all roads linking the area to urban centres were fixed.

Also speaking, Alhaji Umar Ahmed, the Chairman of the Transitional Implementation Committee Chairman, said hoodlums were latching on the bad state of the roads to commit crime.

NAN also reports that a cross-section of road transport workers had also called for immediate rehabilitation of the roads.
