Projects: Ahmed Seeks FG, States Collaboration

Date: 2012-08-09

The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed, has stressed the need for the federal government to always carry along the state governments before siting projects in their states to ensure maximum benefits to the people.

He gave the advice during an inspection of federal government projects in the state with a delegation from Abuja.

The governor explained that only the state governments are in the best position to know the yearnings and aspirations of their people at any particular period.

"It is disheartening to see the federal government at times providing water or some other facilities where it is not needed. And this, at the end of the day amounts to wastage".

Ahmed, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural resources, Olabode Olayemi, in the inspection of agriculture input mall in Osi and Oke-Ode as well as agro-processing estate in Iludun Oro, assured the federal government that he would take full ownership of the project.

In his remarks, the representative of the minister for planning, Mr. Dapo Oyewole commended the state government for its contributions to the vision 20:2020 of the federal government.

He also described the state government as a role model to other states in the agricultural sector.
