ICAN official, businessman advise organisations on training

Date: 2016-12-21

The Deputy Vice President, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Alhaji Razak Jaiyeola, and an entrepreneur, Alhaji Layi Gobir, have said that training and the development of entrepreneurship are cardinal for organisational and business growth.

While Jaiyeola spoke on Monday on the sidelines of ICAN's special programme tagged: ‘Catch them Young’, for over 400 students in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State; Gobir spoke in Ilorin, the state capital.

Jaiyeola urged the management of organisations to ensure regular training and retraining of their employees in order to remain competitive.

He advised chartered accountants not to betray the trust reposed in them, adding that they must remain transparent, loyal and honest in the discharge of their duties, while also encouraging the students to embrace the accountancy profession.

Gobir urged the Federal Government to implement palliative measures to cushion the harsh effects of the current economic recession on Nigerians as well as to boost the growth of Small and Medium-scale Enterprises.

He noted that SMEs were cardinal to economic recovery and job creation.

Gobir equally advised the government to implement policies and programmes that would quicken economic recovery.

Noting that many industries and businesses were folding up because of the current recession, he stated that while the government was working on a long-term policy to fix the system, it should also provide incentives to revive businesses and avoid total collapse of business and industrial activities.
