Kwara To Complete Ongoing Road Projects

Kwara State government says it is committed to ensuring that all ongoing road projects across the State are completed on time for the benefits of the people.

The State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Aro Yahaya expressed the commitment on Wednesday when he inspected work progress on the ongoing construction of Arandun-Rore-Ipetu road in Irepodun local government area of the State.

Alhaji Yahaya expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work done, and urged the contractor to ensure timely completion of the project. The length of the road is 20.31 km, out of which about 10km has been asphalted.

In his response, the contractor noted that he will sustain the quality by meeting the standard and specifications given by the government. He assured that the project will be completed by June, 2017.

The Works Commissioner had earlier inspected the just completed Oloro place road in Oro, and told the contractor to ensure the monitoring and maintenance of the road within the reliability period in other to correct any defect that may arise.

He, however, expressed satisfaction with the standard of work done, noting that this is another hope that indigenous contractors can deliver quality jobs.

Alhaji Yahaya also visited the Fire Service station that was recently established in Oro, and assured that the State government will continue to provide the necessary facilities for the smooth operation of the station.

The Commissioner was accompanied on the inspection tour by the Special Adviser to the governor on Infrastructure and Project Monitoring, Mr. Olayinka Olaoye and other officials of the Ministry of Works and Transport.
