ABS FC replace Benin Republic in friendly against Flying Eagles
Flying Eagles Media Officer, Sam Audu, told the News Agency of Nigeria in a telephone interview that the match would be played in Ilorin at the Kwara State Sports Stadium.
NAN reports that Benin Republic had on Friday pulled out of Sunday’s warm-up match against Nigeria, earlier scheduled for the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.
The Nigeria Football Association had said while announcing Benin’s withdrawal that this was as a result of internal wrangling in the country’s football federation.
“The ABS FC versus Flying Eagles match will be played at the Ilorin Township Stadium, also on Sunday, and for convenience purposes,” Audu had told NAN.
African youth champions Nigeria are preparing for a July 29 game against Tanzania in the 2013 African Youth Championship qualifiers.
The match is the first leg game of the pairing and it will hold in Dar es Salaam, while the second leg match comes up in Nigeria on August 11.
