Kwara United pay 100 percent sign on fees to players

Date: 2012-06-17

Nigeria Premier League side Kwara United have fulfilled their obligation to players of the club by paying 100 per cent sign on fees. Goal.com learnt that the owners of the club Kwara State Government is determined to ensure that the players are happy so they can give their best in the remaining matches in the season.

According to Ajide Olayioye, the media officer of the club, the payment of the sign on fees will greatly motivate the players and officials to strive to win the League title this season.

"The Government is serious about the team finishing well on the league table. So they decided that it will not be proper to continue to owe the players as long as the money is there to pay them.

"So last Wednesday, all the players and officials got their money. When you see the faces of the players, you will be sure that they will approach the remaining matches in the season with utmost determination.

"Another reason why the Government decided to pay the full sign on fees is because they don't want backlog of sign on fees at the end of the season.

"When this season comes to an end, preparations for next season should start. It is not proper for the club to start looking for ways of paying the players as it will set the team back in their preparation for the new season.

"The payment of the sign on fees will also encourage new players that will join the team next season. They will know we don't owe players and it will help them make up their minds fast to wear the jersey of Kwara United.

"I am confident that the players will approach the remaining games with all seriousness because we want to get a continental ticket at the end of the season," Ajide said.

Kwara United is on the 11th position on the league table with 43 points.
