Devt: Don tasks Ilorin elite, others

Date: 2015-12-25

<>A teacher of political science at the University of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Jawondo, has harped on a need for the well-to-do indigenes of Ilorin to come together for political, social, economic and spiritual upliftment of the emirate and its people.

He said that it was necessary to further strengthening the unity of Ilorin Emirate, an ingredient needed to ensure its development.

He also stressed a need for the Emirate's political class to shun corruption and become a shining example in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

Jawondo made the call in a paper titled: "Ilorin: Yesterday and Tomorrow", which he presented at a special lecture organised to mark the 50th anniversary of annual national conference of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU).

The guest lecturer canvassed an Emirate where the ruler and the ruled would shun individual interests for a collective goal.
