Kwara PDP challenges ACN to tour Ahmed's projects

Date: 2012-06-12

Irked by the criticisms of Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed's 365 days in office by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), the Kwara state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has challenged the opposition party to be sincere enough to embark on media tour of project sites in the state and report their findings to the world.

The party through a statement by its Director of Publicity, Alhaji Mas'ud Adebimpe on Sunday night spoke on the heels of ACN's scolding of Governor Ahmed's one year anniversary, which the party described as one year of shared poverty and underdevelopment.

The PDP however said it would have ignored the opposition party's ranting as one of such propaganda gimmicks, but it reacted to disprove the "tissues of lies" in order not to hoodwink the unsuspecting public.

"We were not bothered by the packs of falsehood and propaganda of these impostors and fake progressives, we challenge them to, on their own, embark on media tour of all our reported projects and report their findings to the whole world", the party said.

The party highlighted the achievements of Ahmed in the last one year, despite limited resources, wondering that as visible as Ahmed's performances are, the ACN could not point at any.

The statement read in part, "The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not in any way bothered about the distortion of facts and figure by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). To us and to every progressive minded person, Kwara knows that ACN is synonymous to falsehood, misinformation and propaganda.

"The last one year of PDP administration under Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed remains remarkable and indelible in the progressive march towards taking our dear state to the next level.

"The achievements, perhaps overwhelmed the so called opposition that they could not comprehend how the peoples' governor was able to make the positive impacts within a short period, while governors in various ACN controlled States are still batting with either arts of governance, workers' strikes, sacking of professionals, payments of one wage or another and even putting in place cabinet members".

It added, "It is on record that the PDP administration in the state has commenced Free Education, opened up rural roads and constructed new ones across the state that the ACN propagandists equally acknowledged.

"In the same vein, the PDP government has severally told the whole world what it has been able to achieve in the provision of Potable water. The phase one of pipe reticulation, which was last done in the 70s was successfully completed by the last administration and water is flowing in the metropolis, including the homes, residence and abodes of ACN in the state.

"Water works and Motorised boreholes were sunk across the state by this administration, while the second phase of the reticulation is nearing completion, all these are feasible, only propagandists like ACN could not see even when pipes were laid in front of their houses".

The statement explained that the PDP administration remains "focussed and determined in its avowed efforts to reduce unemployment among our youths and we make bold to say that the KWABES programme in Kwara was more real, factual and beneficial and its on record that even the so called ACN members were beneficiaries. "As a party, we want to reiterate that no amount of propaganda and falsification of facts can distract our progressive government from spreading dividends of Democracy to every nook and cranny of our state.

"No single ACN State with the meagre resources of our dear state has the number of social infrastructures provided in the last one year by PDP administration in terms of Roads, heath care services, potable water, Rural Electrification, youths empowerment, among others.

"The Agricultural policy of Kwara remains second to none in the country. It's a known fact that the Federal Government of Nigeria adopted in totality the State's Agricultural policy and all partnerships entered into with private investors by Kwara state government would be pursued with vigour because it is going to be beneficial to the good people of our dear state.

"The party would have ignored them as its their trade in stock to mislead and distorts facts, but for the unsuspecting public, the need to put the record straight became imperative, we therefore urged the public to ignore all their packs of lies and distortions of facts in its entirety", it added.
